The Blaxton kilns lie close to the kiln complex of Cantley,
Branton, Rossington Bridge and West Bessacarr which was
excavated with varying degrees of success since the 1950’s.
This is a detailed and well illustrated publication, very useful
for the study of South Yorkshire pottery.

An extensive group of kilns, at Cantley, Rossington Bridge,
Bessacarr, Branton and Blaxton, just south of Doncaster, was
excavated in the 1950’s and 1960’s. This paper is a useful
and detailed synthesis of the results, prior to full
publication.

An excellent publication of stratified and unstratified pottery,
providing the very useful beginning of a type series for pottery
from the York Colonia. The discussion of Pompeian-red ware,
African red slip ware and ‘Eboracum’ ware is extremely
useful.

The first report covers a small group of pottery from the R-B
site at Stonygate, near Pickering, including mortaria probably
from Crambeck kilns.
The latter report includes sherds from small-scale 1940’s
excavations in the Norton area, and publishes material from a
kiln excavated in 1949 at Grove Bungalow, Langton Road, Norton.
